Tales of Xillia 2 Guide: Debt Repayment Rewards

Tales of Xillia 2 has an interesting system not seen in previous games. Early in the game you get slapped with 20 million gald worth of debt. You must repay certain amounts to progress the story. When you aren’t progressing the story, you can repay your debt to unlock other rewards, such as costumes or skills.

20 million is a lot and there are many things for you to unlock by paying certain amounts. There’s even a special reward for paying it all off! I’m here to tell yo what those rewards are, and when you unlock them.

This guide will cover everything about debt repayment including:

Debt Repayment Rewards

20 million is a hefty sum and there are many things unlocked throughout the debt repayment process. This is why I’m breaking up everything in 2 million increments. I’ll list them starting 1-2 million as how much you must pay off to get each the rewards. I won’t have the exact payments, but everything listed is in the order you unlock them in. Some things will vary since you aren’t required to make payments unless you need to advance the story or get too much money.

1-2 million
  • Duval train station travel restriction lifted
  • Kitty Krisps – Cuts return time by 10% in Kitty Dispatch

  • Marksburg or Heliosburg travel restriction lifted
  • Minimum Damage skill (Ludger) – This makes all attacks deal 1 point of damage.
  • Kitty Krisps
  • Aladhi travel restriction lifted
  • Chapter 7 unlocked
  • Friendship Potion – Raises affinity with one party member
  • Chapter 8 unlocked
  • Chapter 9 unlocked
  • Minimum Damage skill (Jude)

  • Recall skill (Jude) – 40% chance to automatically revive when Ko’d. Will only work once in battle.

  • Melee Gamble skill (Ludger) – Take only 1 point of damage when guarding against physical attacks, but receive twice as much damage when not guarding.
  • Kitty Toy – Cuts return time by 35% in Kitty Dispatch.
7-8 million
  • No Jacket costume (Rowen)
  • Impregnable Guard skill (Jude)
  • Friendship Potion (3)
  • Kitty Toy (2)
  • Stamina 3 skill (Alvin)
  • Impregnable Guard skill (Elize)
  • Recall skill (Rowen)
  • Spell Gamble skill (Ludger) – Take only 1 point of damage from magical attacks when using Magic Guard, but receive twice as much damage when not using it.

9-10 million
  • Friendship Potion (2)
  • Kitty Toy
  • Impregnable Guard skill (Ludger)
  • Impregnable Guard skill (Leia)
  • No Jacket costume (Elize)
  • Kitty Toy
  • Friendship Potion (3)
  • Recall skill (Gaius)

11-12 million

  • Agalaea, The Trampler – Ludger’s Hammer Fell Arm.

  • Royal Feast – Triples the chance of receiving a rare item from Kitty Dispatch.
  • Elemental Armor skill (Milla) – Elemental artes will grant a 30% resistance to that element for 8 seconds.

Secret Ending

Although I have not paid off all the debt, I can tell you what you get for doing so. You’ll get a secret ending that involves the cast going to some hot springs. The males members don’t quite ge the same treatment as the females. Check out EmiruTheKnight’s video below.
