The Best Character to Promote the Video Store in Zenless Zone Zero

Promoting the video store is a fun way to get a few extra rewards in Zenless Zone Zero.

There are tons of ways to progress your account in Zenless Zone Zero, and one of the smallest but most charming is getting friendly NPCs to promote the video store that serves as your main character’s home base. Of course, not all promoters are the same. Let’s discuss the best of them here.

You aren’t going to be swimming in Polychrome by promoting the video store, nor does it get you any more pulls, but it is a completely free source of a modest amount of Dennies and upgrade materials. Early in your playthrough, you’ll only have access to a few characters, but your options grow as you meet new patrons and hire them as employees. You’ll eventually be able to recruit your Agent NPC allies by reaching Trust Rank 2 with them so that they can watch a movie with you. At that point, you can have them promote the store when you open it for the day.

Video Store Promoters in Zenless Zone Zero, Ranked

Who you pick to promote the video store will depend on what you need and roleplay/immersion considerations, but adding Agents to your staff is straight-up better, as they can provide upgrade materials specific to their element and Skills. Our list, then, describes each character on their own terms, in descending order of usefulness.

So, here’s the thing. If you want the most bang for your buck regarding video store promoters, you must use SSR Agents. They don’t need to be limited characters, so Soldier 11, Lycaon, and the rest provide the same materials as Ellen, Zhu Yuan, etc. Specifically, when you pick up the rewards from having an SSR Agent promote your store, you get:

  • 17 Bangboo Software Patches for leveling Bangboos
  • 5 Skill Chips of the promoting Agent’s element
  • Dennies based on store performance

The Dennies you earn are actually not based on promotion but on the videos you use in the promotion. Each video has a specific number of customers it brings in based on the video’s level. Videos level up the more you use them; some come at a higher level by default. You need 125 hourly customers for the max amount of Dennies, which takes at least two level three videos.

A-Rank Agent Video Store Promoters

If you’re new to Zenless Zone Zero or don’t have a character of a particular element (I don’t have Zhu Yuan for Ether, for instance), you can use an A-rank character to promote the store. You won’t get quite as many materials due to the relative rarity of the character, but you’ll still end up with a good collection of mats. They include:

  • 12 Bangboo Software Patches for leveling Bangboos
  • 2 Skill Chips of the promoting Agent’s element
  • Dennies based on store performance

As more A-rank characters come out, you’ll be able to get materials for every character element in the game, though if you add at least a few S-ranks, you can transition over to having them promote the store.

NPC Video Store Promoter Rankings

The catch with having Agents from the story promote the video store is you need to actually pull them to build the trust necessary Trust Rank to add them to the staff. If you have no other alternatives, you do get four Sixth Street NPCs for free that can also promote the store. You only get Dennies for doing so, and while the amount is unchanged from Agent values, you’ll miss out on the Bangboo and Skill chips. Of course, if you’re into roleplaying a bit, you can always say that the Agents in your teams are too busy with their lives to promote a video store and stick to your NPC friends.

In short, while there are technically better characters to use to promote the video store in Zenless Zone Zero, which you choose will vary based on your material needs at the time. Your Trust level with a character also seems to factor in, as does their rarity. You can probably do just fine using whoever you like to promote the store on a given day and have a similar outcome, though the more Agent NPCs you can hire, the better.
