The Best Way to Get Bullet Spray During the Dawning 2023 in Destiny 2

Bullet Spray is one of many ingredients you need to find and farm during The Dawning 2023 event in Destiny 2.

There are dozens of ingredients to collect during The Dawning 2023 in Destiny 2, and knowing how to farm them is essential for starting out the event on the right for. Bullet Spray is technically one of the easier ones to get, and we’ll cover how in this guide.

You get the Bullet Spray ingredient by defeating enemies with Auto Rifles, SMGs, and Machine Guns, though I find that this description is something of a misnomer. In my testing, the best way to get Bullet Spray is to use a Machine Gun.

I don’t know if the Power weapons have a higher weight to them, but I would clear more than 100 enemies without a single drop of Bullet Spray, whereas something like Fixed Odds or Thunderlord would get it every few dozen kills or so.

The big thing you need to watch out for is the elemental effects some Machine Guns come with. My Fixed Odds has Incandescent on it, so the Solar explosions sometimes push other ingredients to appear. It’s not consistent, and I was still getting a fair amount of Bullet Spray, but it’s something to look out for. Using a Machine Gun without AoE effects, like the Avalanche from The Dawning, is a more foolproof way to get the ingredient you want.

How to Farm Bullet Spray in The Dawning 2023

To farm Bullet Spray, you want an activity with a high enemy density that’s easily repeatable with weaker enemies. Here are my recommendations:

  • Complete Vanguard Strikes and Base Level Lost Sectors. Most Strikes on rotation these days are filled with weaker enemies you can blast through quickly. Lost Sectors are good, too, especially on larger destinations like Nessus or the EDZ, as there are more Rally Flags you can use to refill your Power ammo.

  • Equip one or more Power Ammo Finder mods in your Helmet. Power ammo drops have always been at the mercy of RNG, but if you equip a Power Ammo Finder mod in your Helmet, you vastly increase the amount of that ammo type that appears.

  • Use a weapon with a large magazine and reserves. Any Auto Rifle, SMG, or Machine Gun in Destiny 2 works to get Bullet Spray, but the best of them have large magazines and nigh-bottomless reserves. My picks will always be Retrofit Escapade, Fixed Odds, Commemoration, and Thunderlord, but any you can get your hands on will work.

Those are our tips for getting and farming the Bullet Spray ingredient during The Dawning 2023 in Destiny 2. It’s a fairly straightforward process and takes very little investment or effort in builds or endgame systems.
