In The First Descendant, you must complete Void Intercept Battles to progress through the main story. These battles may seem easy to get through, but the more you complete them, the more challenging they get. Most players can make these battles easier if they implement a few tips and strategies to get through them, and if you are here, you may need them, so get ready to learn everything about Void Intercept Battles.
The First Descendant: Void Intercept Battles 101
Void Intercept Battles are another way of saying Boss Battles. After completing a few missions, a Void Intercept Battle will be available and you won’t progress the main story unless you defeat the new Colossi boss. So unless you want to stop unlocking new items and go through the game’s story, defeating the Colossi is a must. So get ready to learn a few tips and strategies to defeat your new enemies.
Knowing Your Enemy Before Doing Void Intercept Battles
Before you jump into Void Intercept Battles after talking to Seneca, you must learn all their weaknesses and weak spots to focus on when you start fighting them. If the Colossi you are facing is weak to poison damage, you must modify your loadout and add poison damage modules to your weapons to do as much damage as possible from the start.
Catering your modules towards your enemy will pay dividends throughout your match, so ensure you equip the best weapons and modules before facing the Colossi boss.
Besides knowing which type of damage the Colossi is weak to, you must learn the enemy’s weak spots so you focus your weapons and do as much damage as possible.
Luckily for players, most weak spots are in the same place for many Colossi. Focusing your firepower and skills on the enemy’s calves, shoulders, head, and chest will usually do more damage than shooting at them in other places.
Pick Your Weapons With Purpose
Besides choosing the best modules for each Colossi, you must pick your weapons, knowing you will attack different enemies. I’ve had the most success dealing with minions and the main boss by picking two weapons for shooting at the Colossi exclusively and my last gun just for dealing with minions.
When doing this, I save ammo for the weapons that deal the most damage to take on the Colossi more effectively.
Another thing to be careful about is choosing two or more weapons that use the same type of ammo. This is another problem you must avoid, or you will be running around the map scavenging for ammo and having to choose which weapon you will use to kill your enemies. Try to use weapons with different ammo types so you run out of ammo less frequently.
Help Your Teammates
Most players do Void Intercept Battles with random players, but some forget this is a team game, and you shouldn’t if you don’t want to keep failing. In The First Descendant, enemies will get you down at some point, and in Void Intercept Battles, is even more common, but some players do not even try to get their teammates up and waste the limited times they get to revive.
If you can’t revive your teammate, the least you can do is get the attention of the Colossi boss or its minions so your teammates can revive them.
Learn the Colossi Attack Patterns
Each Colossi has different attacks, and learning them will help you avoid damage and time your shots so you don’t waste bullets or your abilities. When fighting the Stunning Beauty, I noticed that after taking a lot of damage, she held her stomach for a few seconds, giving me the perfect opportunity to hit her sensors with my sniper rifle and deal massive damage.
Little details like those will help you defeat Colossi faster, so keep an eye on those details next time you are in a Void Intercept Battle.
Go Alone
Going alone into a Void Intercept Battle may seem like a crazy idea, but it has benefits. When you go alone into a Void Intercept Battle, The Colossi boss deals less damage overall, making it easier to kill than if you went with a squad of players.
This does not mean it will be a walk in the park, but if you are having a hard time defeating the Colossi, going solo may be the strategy you need.
