When you’re working on getting gravesite fees during the quest “A Small Grave Matter” in The Outer Worlds, you’ll be tasked with getting payments from Ludwig at the landing pad. Once you start talking to him, though, he’ll have a few tasks for you to complete after handing over his Bits. This begins the “Die Robot” quest, and one of the tasks will be to retrieve an automaton logic core.

Most of this quest is relatively straightforward. Follow directions and complete objectives. It’s all standard stuff. However, getting the logic core can be somewhat of a mystery. The walkthrough guide below won’t take you through the “Die Robot” quest. Instead, it will focus on telling you how to get this specific item to complete the quest.

How to Get the Automation Logic Core During “Die Robot” in The Outer Worlds

Go ahead and fast travel to the Geothermal Plant. If you haven’t been to the Geothermal Plant yet, simply work your way through the quest “Now Comes the Power”, which you get by talking to Reed Tobson in Edgewater. You will come to the Geothermal Plant relatively early in that quest.

Once at the Geothermal Plant, go in through the main door. Once inside, there will be a downward staircase right in front of you. Go down that.

There are some lockers on your left, as well as two doors. One is locked, and one is not. Of course, the automaton logic core is in the locked room. If you have a hacking skill of 30, you can hack the door and grab the core. Though, you most likely won’t have a skill that high this early in the game.

If you don’t, go into the room directly behind you. It’s the one with the computer terminal. Access the terminal and read all of the messages. Once you do, the quest will update. You will now need to find an access card.

Exit the room with the terminal and turn left. Go through the door and turn right. Go down the ramp to your left. At the bottom, go through the door on the right and go left.

Go all the way to the end of the room and turn left. Go up the stairs to the room overlooking the one you’re in now. Turn left at the top of the stairs to see an overturned table.

The map marker will point at something behind the table. That something is the dead Security Chief. Interact with their body and grab the access card. Be sure to pick up the light machine gun as well.

Now, go back to the locked door near the beginning of the Geothermal Plant.

Open the door and grab the automaton logic core off of the shelf directly in front of you, which will give you a nice 2,142 XP. There are, of course, other worthwhile items in the room as well. Grab them all, exit the Geothermal Plant, and fast travel back to the Edgewater Landing Pad.

Speak with Ludwig and give him the logic core. He will reward you with 500 bits and a Shock Stick. You will also receive 14,290 XP for completing the quest.

That’s all you need to know about getting the automaton logic core in The Outer Worlds during the “Die Robot” sidequest. For more on The Outer Worlds, be sure to head over to our growing guides page
