You’re on a hunt for a pirate captain named LeChance in the Wargtooth Shallows after the Emotion of the Ocean quest in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. You won’t face him until the end of the level, and while he’s not the most complicated boss, some of his attacks are more than they first appear.
Here’s what you need to know to beat LeChance even further into the deeps.
How to Beat LeChance in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
LeChance has four attacks total, but one of his ranged attacks is a little trickier than other ranged attacks you’d have seen up to this point.
As with most humanoid bosses, you can dodge his attacks with a light step to one side, though the anchor throw will require a few additional steps.
Attack 1: Anchor Throw into Cannon Fire
LeChance reaches behind him and pulls out a small, rusty anchor, which he throws at you after a short delay. To dodge it consistently, you need to strafe to one side as he starts the throw animation and then strafe to the other direction after he completes the throw.
Whether he hits you with the anchor or not, move away from where it lands, as the area immediately around the anchor will be subject to about five seconds of cannon fire.
The anchor’s damage will do about 90% of your health through your Ward, and the AoE death from above will finish you off. There aren’t many mobs in this fight either, so going down here is a nasty prospect.
Attack 2: Purple Energy Ball
This is the same attack Zomboss uses. As with the anchor, it deals a lot of damage and has a small AoE where it lands, though there’s no additional cannon fire with this attack.
He’ll will pull back like he’s about to throw a baseball, then chuck a small, purple ball of energy at you. Step to the side if you see it coming, but keep moving so you don’t get caught in the lingering hitbox.
Attacks 3 and 4: Sword Swing and Kick
If he isn’t throwing things at you, LeChance spends his time rushing you down and will either swing his cutlass at you or attempts to kick you. Both attacks do about the same thing: deal some damage. The kick has a little bit of knockback, and the sword swing has nothing new to offer to the world of swords and swinging. Take a few steps back, and you’ll easily avoid both.
All that’s left now is to deal as much damage as is possible and defeat LeChance. You won’t find another boss like him again for a while; they’ll all be more like Banshee. We discuss her and more in our guides hub for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
