Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the newest game in the franchise, and despite how intimidating the title might sound, it is definitely the easiest Call of Duty game to beat on veteran. By following only a few simple tips, you should be able to complete the campaign on veteran with ease, especially if you’ve beaten any of the other previous games on veteran.
Upgrade Your Exo-Suit
The main difference between Advanced Warfare and previous Call of Duty games is that you are allowed to upgrade something called your “exo-suit”, giving you faster reload speeds, more health, longer sprint duration, a larger supply of grenades, and more. I highly recommend playing through the campaign on normal first, and trying to unlock as many upgrade points as you can. You gain upgrade points by getting headshots, getting enemy kills, getting grenade kills, and finding enemy intel (a guide for finding all the intel can be found here). You can normally get a majority of the upgrade points through your first playthrough alone (I had all of my headshot challenges completed within the first few levels), so upgrading your exo-suit proves to be very easy.
Use Your Exo’s Abilities and Tactical Grenades
Each level contains an exo-suit that has certain abilities designed to make the level a bit easier, and it’s best to take advantage of them. At the beginning of each level, the game will inform you of which exo-suit you’ll be using, and which abilities it contains. These abilities include stim (a temporary health booster), exo shield, exo cloak, evo hover, and a variety of others. One ability that’s available on every exo-suit is the strafe ability, which can be used by moving in any direction and pressing L3. This ability allows you to dodge enemy bullets, and it is also an easy way to dodge grenades. Also, for any trophy/achievement hunters out there, there is a trophy/achievement for dodging 20 grenades while using the strafe ability. Using grenades like the threat grenade will prove to be useful, as the threat grenade reveals your enemies locations through the walls.
AI’s Are Your Best Friend
The enemies in Advanced Warfare are a little smarter than the previous games, in the sense that they will try and flank you at any given opportunity. Use your AI teammates as distractions so that you can get the upper hand and flank the enemies before they flank you. Thankfully, your teammates can get a good amount of kills on their own, and they can even perform one-hit kills with their takedown moves.
Once you’ve upgraded your exo-suit and you’ve learned how to effectively use your abilities, Advanced Warfare should only take a few hours to complete. Just like any other shooters, don’t rush the enemies, stay behind cover, and take your time through the levels. Once you get the hang of the game, it should be a cakewalk to complete on veteran.
