One of the biggest choices in Stardew Valley has you pick whether you want to restore the community center or purchase a JojaMart membership. There are a lot of rewards associated with revitalizing the community center. So, what happens if you join JojaMart in Stardew Valley instead?
Stardew Valley: Should You Join JojaMart Instead of Fixing the Community Center
When you buy a JojaMart membership, the community center is turned into a warehouse. However, this doesn’t mean that the rewards you’d get from repairing it are no longer available. What you don’t have access to are the small rewards that come from completing individual bundles, as the bundles are replaced by Joja’s community development projects.
JojaMart’s Community Development Projects
How the community development projects work is that you basically pay gold to unlock repairs instead of completing sets of bundles in each room of the community center. So, that means the minecarts are repaired for 15,000 gold. The glimmering boulder removal that unlocks panning costs 20,000 gold. Repairing the bridge in the mountains costs 25,000 gold. Turning the ruins of the farm into a greenhouse costs 35,000 gold. And finally, repairing the bus to Calico Desert costs 40,000 gold. Altogether, this totals 135,000 gold.
The only other bonus that you get when joining JojaMart is reduced prices when you shop there. However, even with a membership almost every item is the same price that Pierre sells it for. The exception is Sunflower Seeds, which are half the price as they are at Pierre’s. As such, even with the membership, it doesn’t make a big difference where you shop.
And that covers what happens if you join JojaMart in Stardew Valley. Since it locks off the community center that helps the town without selling out to a corporation, it’s usually seen as the bad option.
