Hunt: Showdown 1896 came with a few changes to the core game experience, including a bullet drop mechanic. Bullet drop is a feature present in many realistic FPS games, adding a degree of realism and forcing players to consider distance when fighting enemies at long ranges. Unlike other shooters, Hunt: Showdown 1896 treats bullet drop differently, so we’re here to explain what Drop Range is in Hunt: Showdown 1896.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 – Drop Range Explained
Drop Range is the new stat that is replacing effective range on all weapons. This new stat allows players to know at which distance their shots are affected by gravity, having to compensate for bullet drop. Unlike other shooters, in Hunt: Showdown 1896, the projectile is affected by gravity when it travels past its drop range distance.
For example, if you shoot with the Martini-Henry rifle, you must start compensating for bullet drop when attacking players past 125 meters. Firing at anything closer than 125 meters will not require you to consider bullet drop, so most players will be fine when fighting at the intended range.
Drop Range depends on the weapon’s barrel length, action type, ammo, and muzzle velocity. So players must consider those stats next time they choose a long-range rifle like the Mosin Nagant or the Krag.
Depending on the ammo type, the bullet drop will be bigger or smaller, so don’t expect to have the same bullet drop when using long and compact ammo. Players can use High Velocity/Spitzer rounds to increase the weapon’s bullet velocity and reduce how much they will have to compensate for their aim.
Now, players must consider what role they want to fulfil in their team before choosing a rifle that works at long ranges. Picking a weapon with a short Drop Range will be detrimental when having long-range fights, so some players must rethink their loadouts.
