What is Glymercole and What to Do with It in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Glymercole is one of many valuable items in Dragon's Dogma 2, but what's it for, and what can you do with it?

Are there too many valuable items in Dragon’s Dogma 2? A question, perhaps, for philosophers. However, one of them, called Glymercole, is a bit more mysterious. What is Glymercole, and what is it actually good for? The answer is both surprising and surprisingly simple.

What Do You Do with Glymercole in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

As you explore the caves, mines, and dungeons of Dragon’s Dogma 2, especially in the southern desert region of Battahl, you’re bound to find at least a few units of Glymercole. Described as a lump of coal unusable as fuel, Glymercole is one of those materials whose sole purpose is to take up space in your pack — or so you might think.

In actuality, collecting Glymercole is one of the easiest and quickest money farms in the Dragon’s Dogma 2 midgame. It sells for a measly 150 gold, but it’s incredibly plentiful in some of the mines of Battahl. What I’m getting at is: you should sell Glymercole once you have a hefty amount of it burning a hole in your storage box.

Sure, it’s not going to make you instantly rich like selling a mass of Jasper in Battahl might, but if you collect it passively as you explore and then unload a massive quantity, you can easily make more than 10,000 gold without actively farming for it.

Selling Glymercole is kind of like farming pawns for money, but it’s even easier. The main problem is how heavy the stuff is: 0.50 kilograms per unit, and you can easily find dozens of units at a time. My recommendation here is only to carry as much as you’re comfortable spreading across your and your pawns’ inventories and making the journey back to an inn or a personal dwelling at regular intervals to offload.

Once you’ve collected a solid hoard of Glymercole, put it into your party’s inventory and sell, sell, sell. Bear in mind that depending on how long you go between sell-offs and the composition of your party, you could easily overburden everyone in the group between you and the merchant.

Where to Find Glymercole in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The short answer to where you find Glymercole in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is caves in Battahl. However, there’s one particular spot that’s super easy to get to, and it’s within a five-minute jog of the nearest shop. I’m talking about Digger’s Ruins, and you might have found it as part of the Dulled Steel, Cold Forge quest. If you haven’t, the mine is a short job southwest of Bakbattahl.

There are only two threats inside Digger’s Ruins: knackers and a single boss monster. The knackers are the only persistent nuisance, as you can avoid the boss monster entirely during your loot run.

The easiest way to find Glymercole in Digger’s Ruins is to run around the first large chamber and the two secondary hallways. When I did a full clear of the entire mine, minus the boss’s chamber, I ended up with around 30 Glymercole and about 15-20 Glimmercoal. The run from Bakbattahl to the mine and back, including the looting and fighting, was about 10 minutes or so for about a 7,500-10,000 gold profit after selling the trash mob loot as well.

You will need to wait for the materials to respawn, which takes a bit of real-world time, so it’s not a “gold-per-hour” thing. It is, however, a good loot run to do whenever you have time near Bakbattahl. You might also come across some world boss monsters, and taking out the boss in the Ruins themselves nets at least a few thousand gold worth of materials, too.

I’ve not found any other use for Glymercole in my playthrough, and I would bet money it only exists to take up space in your inventory and to be sold. It’s also around to get in the way of collecting the Glimmercoal you need during the quest with Sara and Brokkr. If you’re going to farm it, I’d recommend swapping to Fighter or Warrior for the highest possible carry weight. Do the same for your main pawn, as well. Then, head into the mines near the capital, load up, ship out, and sell off. You’ll be a bit richer much quicker than you would have been otherwise.
