One important note about the reset timers is that Bethesda honors daylight savings time and reflects the timer resets accordingly. For instance, all vendors, including machines, reset daily at 12:00 PM ET during daylight savings and 1:00 PM ET outside daylight savings. Keep this in mind when timing your activities.

When Do Vendors Reset?

Vendors reset in Fallout 76 at 12:00 PM EDT (1:00 PM EST).

In Fallout 76, NPC vendors are from one of the seven factions in Appalachia. Each vendor within a faction shares a maximum cap stash of 1400, replenished at the reset time. You can identify the faction to which a vendor belongs by its name. For instance, the “Responders Vendor Bot” at the Whitespring Resort is from the Responders faction.

In addition, it’s crucial to understand that the caps available to all vendors, regardless of their faction, are character-based, which means that the amount of available caps a vendor has will not change when switching to another server. Additionally, when you sell an item to a vendor, they add one-quarter of the selling price to their cap stash. However, they will only add caps this way until their total cap stash reaches 1400 caps. Therefore, it is essential to manage your daily trades to keep your cap stash in check.

Finally, all the inventory for each NPC vendor is server-based, so switching to another server will cause that specific vendor to refresh its inventory. It’s beneficial if you are looking for a particular item, like the Chainsaw flamer mod, for instance. Also, note that an NPC vendor’s item stock is unique and not shared between vendors, even if they are in the same faction. Lastly, the vendor’s inventory is reset at the reset time, along with its caps.
