In Chapter 3, players reach the Pagoda realm as part of the Black Myth Wukong story campaign. One of the most significant locations in this realm is the Great Pagoda. Here, I’ll provide you with a list of things to do at the Great Pagoda in Black Myth Wukong, including quests and secrets.
Black Myth Wukong: What to Do at the Great Pagoda
Offer Incense to Buddha
The first thing that you should definitely do as soon as you enter the Great Pagoda is to offer incense to the statue of Buddha. This action will manifest the Divine Odour mechanic, a powerful in-game ritual that allows you to enhance your abilities using the absorbed spirits.
Explore the Pagoda Walls
If you enjoy small details, then I highly recommend checking out the murals surrounding the Great Pagoda. You’ll notice that they depict all the events you already took part in before coming here. This is a really cool narrative feature that not that many players know about.
Unlock Purple Seal Prison Cells
One of the biggest secrets of the Great Pagoda is the presence of the secret boss Captain Lotus Vision. You can find him at the Upper Pagoda Shrine. Check out the area behind the shrine, where you should see a hole in the ground. If you go down this hole, it’ll lead you straight to the boss of this realm. Here are a few important tips on how to defeat this boss:
- Beware of his laser beams, and dodge as soon as you can.
- Defeat his summoned undead minions before taking out the boss.
- Here, it’s important to preserve all your stamina to be able to dodge attacks and counterattacks.
Once you defeat Captain Lotus Vision, you’ll absorb his spirits, which will unlock the purple prison cells within the Great Pagoda. There you can loot some cool items, such as Chu-Bai Spear, as well as speak to NPCs, which will help you progress through the story.
Defeat the Four Captains
Actually, Captain Lotus Vision is only one of the four captains that you must defeat within the Pagoda Realm, the other three being:
- Captain Wise-Voice
- Captain Non-White
- Captain Frostsprout
Captain Wise-Voice is a large, four-legged Yaoguai King. You can find him at the Mani Wheel area after you ascend to the top of the prison area within the Pagoda Realm. His attacks include thunder strikes and HP-halving effects, so be very careful.
Captain Non-White can be found in a hidden area after you interact with the Child Buddha NPC and the four statues. Note that defeating this boss will also help you complete the quests related to the Third Rat Prince.
Captain Frostsprout resides in the area marked by icy or frost-themed art of the Pagoda Realm. This boss is known for using a blood-infused aura that can deal significant damage, so be sure to utilize your transformation abilities and spirit powers to enhance your damage output during the fight.
