Where to Find Yellow Loong Boss Fight in Black Myth Wukong

Here's how to find and unlock the Yellow Loong optional boss fight in Chapter 4 of Black Myth: Wukong.

The Yellow Loong is the last boss of the Loong side quest. This unique enemy is found in Chapter 4 of Black Myth: Wukong, but finding it might not be your biggest worry. Beyond the fight itself, meeting this enemy requires you to complete the previous steps in the side quest and beat every other Loong. Once you’ve done that, you can use this guide to find the Yellow Loong Boss Fight in Black Myth: Wukong.

To unlock the secret boss fight with Yellow Loong, make sure to have progressed far enough in the main story of Black Myth: Wukong. You should have already defeated the Hand of Buddha boss in Chapter 4, otherwise, you won’t have access to this boss’ secret location.

If you’ve already progressed far enough into the game, let’s find you this boss. If you have already unlocked the Relief of the Fallen Loong shrine, use the fast-travel system to go there. Unsurprisingly, the boss fight takes place near this shrine.

Once you have found this checkpoint, follow the path uphill. Soon, you’ll trigger the fight with the Yellow Loong. Your reward for beating this last Loong boss will be an important cutscene, plenty of crafting materials, the Golden Lining transformation spell, and the Golden Carp curio.

If you need help finding Relief of the Fallen Loong checkpoint, use the instructions below:

  • Start from the Cliff of Oblivion shrine.
  • Follow the tunnel in front of you and cross the bridge created by the Hand of Buddha.
  • Drop down the wooden platform and follow the path to your right.
  • Turn left at the intersection and drop down the wooden platform.
  • Cross the bridge, then follow the linear path until you see a new, much more dangerous bridge.
  • Use the Cloud Step spell to safely cross this bridge.
  • Once outside of the cave, make your way uphill.
  • Do not turn left once you find the remains of a destroyed bridge (shown in screenshot above).
  • The shrine will be right next to the old bridge.

How to Find the Loong Scales

There’s a chance that, upon coming to this location, you won’t find the Yellow Loong to greet you. This is because to unlock the optional boss, Yellow Loong, you must have completed the previous Loong fights. Those are the Red, Black, and Cyan Loong, hidden yaoguai kings that have to be defeated in order.

The first thing you’ll need to engage in the Loong side quest is the Loong Scales. There’s a chance you will have found this item organically during the First Prince of Flowing Sands boss in Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong, but if you didn’t, here’s what you need to do.

Go to the boss arena, near the Valley of Despair shrine. You can see the entrance of the cave that hosts the arena while standing next to the shrine. Just look for the largest nearby cave. Then, use the Azure Dust transformation spell (other spirits or transformations might also work). Trigger the slam attack by deactivating the spell while standing next to the decorated black and red wall. You’ll find the Loong Scales inside the wall.

Where are the Previous Loong Fights

The first Loong fight, the one with the Red Loong, is in Chapter 1, hidden behind a waterfall. Finding it is as easy as fast traveling to the Outside the Forest shrine and moving left as soon as you enter the forest. You’ll soon see the waterfall in the distance.

You’ll find that the second boss, the Black Loong, is similarly hidden behind a sand waterfall in Chapter 2. Go to the Rockrest Flat. You’ll see a stone staircase going up. Follow it, and you’ll find the sand waterfall.

The Cyan Loong is, predictably, hidden in Chapter 3 of Black Myth: Wukong. Move to the Turtle Island shrine and walk down towards the edge of the cliff, directly ahead of your spawn position. You’ll find the statue of a humanoid dragon, fishing. The Cyan Loong will come alive and attack you.

That concludes our guide on where to find the Yellow Loong boss fight in Black Myth: Wukong. While you’re there, you might also want to complete Chapter 4’s secret side quest. And for more content about the game, visit our BMW guide hub.
