A decade after Smite‘s launch, Hi-Rez Studios announced that Smite 2 is a fully modernized, true sequel to the original. But improved gameplay and graphics comes with a necessary question: Will Smite 2 be free to play? We have the answer here.
Is Smite 2 Going to be Free? Answered
The popular third-person MOBA is finally getting a sequel. Your favorite Gods from mythology will be playable with a fresh new coat of paint. Smite 2 takes the leap into the world of Unreal 5. This means it’ll only be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. However, does this mean we’ll have to pay for the sequel? Fortunately, Smite 2 will be free to play on all platforms.
Will Smite 2 Have In-Game Purchases?
Just like its predecessor, you won’t have to spend any of your hard-earned cash to start playing the god-fighting MOBA. However, you can purchase in-game currencies to unlock new skins. But if you’ve spent a lot of money on Smite and are worried that you’ll have to spend even more, don’t fret just yet.
Hi-Rez Studios noted that you’ll get an equal amount of Legacy Gems in Smite 2 for the amount of Gems you purchased in Smite. These Legacy Gems can be used for up to 50% of most in-game purchases, such as skins, Battle Passes, and events. This means you can get up to half off but still have to spend your real-world money. Unfortunately, if you were hoping that some of your skins would transfer, you’re out of luck.
So, if you were wondering: will Smite 2 be free to play? The good news is, yes, Smite 2 will be free to play. However, there will be in-game purchases that you can spend your money on. You can now pre-register for the Alpha playtest coming Spring 2024.
