Today’s the day for the most wishlisted game on Steam to finally come out after multiple delays, and so far, the launch is a success. But will it be on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, too? Let’s answer your question of whether The Day Before will come out on consoles.

What’s Going on with The Day Before Console Release on Xbox and PS5?

Developer Fntastic initially announced the zombie survival game for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, but earlier last month (November 2023), they had to scale back that expectation. Considering the delays leading up to release, this should come as no surprise. The Day Before will come out on PS5 and Xbox consoles, but it will be a while until it happens. We don’t have a definite date — and neither does the developer.

Why isn’t the Day Before on PlayStation and Xbox?

With the game’s launch on PC being in Early Access and needing some work before it’s in a full release state, Fntastic has decided to delay The Day Before‘s console release until it’s ready. It looks like it won’t be launching on consoles until it’s in 1.0, but it’s very possible the team will decide to release it beforehand.

Ark: Survival Evolved did it, and so did its newer, shinier brother, Ark: Survival Ascended. It’s not uncommon for Early Access titles to get console releases these days, though that’s something I have mixed feelings on. For the time being, though, you’ll have to wait to try The Day Before if you’re a console-exclusive player.

But that’s probably for the best. The game is in Early Access for a reason, and it’s clear from the delays that it’s going to need a little (or a lot) of work before it’s ready. The Day Before has had a rough launch so far, with plenty of issues keeping players from getting into the game.
