Blizzard gave us an idea of what to expect in Retail WoW earlier this year, but now we get to see their plans for Classic WoW and what’s next, given the success of Season of Discovery. Here’s a roadmap for WoW Classic and WoW Classic Cataclysm.
What is the 2024 Roadmap for WoW Classic and Cataclysm Classic?
Some items we can look forward to include an increase to the level cap in Season of Discovery along with new runes. Each item is listed in the order they appear on Blizzard’s official roadmap.
2024 Winter
- Wrath Classic: Ruby Sanctum Raid.
- Season of Discovery: Level Cap raised to 40, New Runes, New PvP Events, Gnomeregan Raid.
- Cataclysm Classic: Beta begins.
2024 Spring
- Classic Hardcore: Self-found mode.
- Season of Discovery: Level Cap raised to 50, New Runes, New Raid.
- Cataclysm Classic: Pre-patch events, Add Worgens and Goblins, Guild Features, Collections Account-wide, Transmogs.
2024 Summer
- Cataclysm Classic: Full Launch, Campaigns open, 4 Raids, 7 Dungeons, 2 Heroic Dungeons Available, Battlegrounds, Darkmoon Island Open.
- Season of Discovery: Level Cap raised to 60, New Runes added, End Game Activities added.
- Cataclysm Classic: Rise of the Zandalari.
2024 Fall
- Cataclysm Classic: Open Rage of the Firelands.
- Season of Discovery: More End Game Content Updates.
It looks like a lot will be going on in the next year or two for both Retail and Classic. For me, Cataclysm was far from my favorite expansion, but I look forward to getting to Level 60 in Season of Discovery and seeing what abilities the new runes will include.
But that wraps up the roadmap for WoW Classic and Cataclysm Classic. Blizzard seems to be capitalizing on the power of nostalgia, but considering WoW made up a huge portion of my childhood, I’m ready to go through the content again. Until then, check out our WoW Classic guide hub and Season of Discovery guide hub for more content while you wait for these future updates.
