Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK) — The White Bird’s Guidance Quest Guide

Here's how to complete the White Bird's Guidance quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom White Bird’s Guidance quest has you looking for a rather hard-to-find creature, if we could even call it a living creature in the first place. Doing so will lead you to a well-hidden Shrine. Here’s our guide to help you complete the TotK White Bird’s Guidance Shrine Quest in Rito Village.

Shrine Quest Location

The White Bird’s Guidance quest can be started in Rito Village in the region of Hebra. You can’t miss it since you’ll be heading to this location as part of the Regional Phenomena portion of the campaign.

Once you complete the Wind Temple puzzles and boss encounter, the skies over Rito will clear. At this stage, climb the spiral steps and talk to an NPC by the name of Laissa. She mentions the following clue:

As dawn was breaking, I saw a white bird resting atop the long shadow of the perch. Deep inside, I could make out a rock wreathed in green light.

Where to Find the TotK White Bird

Sounds tricky, right? I thought so, too. Initially, I assumed that the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom White Bird’s Guidance quest referred to a living creature, like a pigeon somewhere in town. That’s not the case at all.

So, for this task, you’ll want to climb near the topmost portion of Rito Village. There, you’ll see a portion of the tall rock that’s jutting out. You can use Ascend a couple of times to reach the top of the perch. Once there, go to the edge of the perch (i.e., the “beak” of the rock formation), and look northwest. You’ll notice an odd shape in the distance, as though there’s a white bird carved along a mountain.

The White Bird here is like a design of sorts, with your eyes playing tricks on you. The reason Laissa mentioned going there at the break of dawn is because that’s when it’s most visible. And, to be clear, you could also stumble upon this location by accident, even if you’re not doing the White Bird’s Guidance quest.

Wao-Os Shrine Lever Power Puzzle Solution in Tears of the Kingdom

In any case, glide to that area, and you’ll find a well-hidden cave (the West Lake Totori Cave). Head deeper and you’ll see the Wao-Os Shrine. This will complete the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom White Bird’s Guidance quest, but we still need to figure out the Wao-Os Shrine Lever Power puzzle solution.

The idea here is to place the orb in the receptacle/bowl. Then, drop the block/cube on the other end of the board. This will turn the whole thing into a catapult, launching the orb toward the target. When this occurs, a hidden wall will open up, allowing you to grab another board. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Attach the extra board to one side (the one further away from the gap/chasm).
  • Attach the receptacle/bowl to that extra board. In a way, this causes the catapult to aim higher.
  • Place the orb in the bowl, then drop the cube. This will launch the orb toward the target that’s up top.

The doorway is opened now. To reach it, simply move link to the center of the bowl, then drop the block to gain a boosted launch. However, before you leave, turn around while gliding to find the chest. You can grab a Spicy Elixir from it.

That completes the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom White Bird’s Guidance quest and the Wao-Os Shrine Level Power puzzle. This is but one particular activity that you can complete in this massive game. For other tips, tricks, and strategies, visit our Zelda: TotK guides hub.
