The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Fire and Water puzzle can be found in the Tadarok Shrine. It will test your wits when it comes to using objects affected by elements. With fire, electricity, and ice, you’ll need to do tasks in a specific order if you want to clear the challenge. Here’s our guide to help you solve the Tadarok Shrine Fire and Water puzzle in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Tadarok Shrine Fire and Water Puzzle Solution in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Tadarok Shrine Location
Tadarok Shrine is found in the Great Plateau, an area that’s in the southwestern portion of Hyrule. Reaching it can be a bit harder than some other TotK Shrines. To do so, you’ll need to follow the main road leading there, where you’ll see boulders blocking the entrance. You can blow it up using a Bomb Flower or other means.
Once you’re through, head south of the Temple of Time Ruins. The temperatures will drop here, so make sure you’re wearing cold resistance gear. In the distance, you’ll see the River of the Dead Waterfall. It’s imperative that you don’t fall into the water since it’s freezing. Even with cold resistance gear, you’ll lose health.
The idea is to make a vessel that can cross the lake (i.e., a Zonai Wing, combined with Fans, Batteries, and even a Rocket). Alternatively, you could just glide to the other side, which was what I did in my playthrough. Eventually, at the very end of the tunnel, you’ll find the Shrine. The coordinates are (-1082, -2187, 0129).
TotK Tadarok Shrine Fire and Water Puzzle Walkthrough
The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Tadarok Shrine Fire and Water puzzle is all about the different elemental effects, as well as how they affect objects. Here’s how to solve the puzzles.
First Fire and Water Puzzle Solution
At the start of the TotK Fire and Water puzzle, you’ll see a small pool of water that’s electrified. Since stone blocks don’t conduct electricity, grab them and place them in the pool so you can cross.
Second Fire and Water Puzzle Solution and Chest Location
Next up, there’s the chest that’s high up on a pillar. The goal is to place the stone block next to the fire trap, preventing it from melting the ice cube. When you have a cube that’s large enough, bring it close to the pillar to climb on it. Alternatively, if you can’t mantle on the ledge, you can use the stone block as a platform, too. The chest contains a Mighty Zonai Shield.
Third Fire and Water Puzzle Solution
Now, you’ll want to figure out how to get to the top where the altar is located. There are various ways to do this, but initially, you’ll need to fish the metal ball out of the pool. This will stop the electricity from coursing through it. Likewise, you should be able to stand on the platform below. Here’s what you can do next:
- Place the stone block to cover the flame trap. Then, place the ice cube next to it. Use Ascend on the walkway, then raise the ice cube with Ultrahand. Once it’s back down, jump on top of it, then use Recall.
- In my case, I simply stacked the two blocks. The stone block was below the ice cube, which was slightly jutting out. I placed my mini-stack near the flame trap, and the stone block prevented the flames from spewing out. I then used Ascend to zip all the way to the top, where the altar is located.
Upon interacting with the altar, you’ll complete the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Tadarok Shrine Fire and Water puzzle. You have one more Light of Blessing to add to your collection, ultimately upgrading your hearts of stamina. You also have a new fast travel point.
