Currently, we don’t know exactly when Control will be making the jump; no release date or window was shared in the initial tweet. Remedy said that “more details [will be] coming at a later date.” It’s also unclear if the release will take advantage of Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system or if the PS4 version is one of the “hundreds” of tested backwards compatible PS5 games.

Control released on August 27, 2019, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as a timed exclusive for PC through the Epic Games Store. It will be coming to Steam sometime in 2020, most likely in August.

In our review of Control, Mark Delaney said that “Control is undoubtedly Remedy’s biggest and weirdest game yet. In many ways, it’s also their best, all while it paves the way for a Marvel-like connected universe.”

It’s first DLC, The Foundation, was also well-received, further fleshing out the story surrounding The Oldest House, while also iterating on the game’s core gameplay mechanics. Control‘s second expansion, dubbed AWE, is set to release sometime in 2020 and is rumored to revolve around another classic Remedy game, Alan Wake

Mark has already taken a deep dive into how Control ties in with other Remedy properties, such as Quantum Break, Max Payne, and Alan Wake. If you’re interested in further exploring Remedy’s shared universe, you can see the connections here. Just beware that there are major spoilers.

Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more on Control, including the AWE expansion, when it drops later this year.
