10 Classic Pokemon Skins to Download and Use in Minecraft

10 awesome Minecraft skins designed after some of the original 151 Pokémon

Pokemon and Minecraft are just two games that are never going to go away. Arguably the two most powerhouse—yet simple—titles on their respective console types, these games have been capturing the hearts of the young and old for so many years.

The constant remixing of gameplay has kept these titles fresh and beloved. I still remember playing Minecraft in its alpha stage, and playing the original Red and Blue versions of Pokemon was one of the warmest and most adventurous gaming memories of my childhood.

Let's take a look at some of my favorite classic Pokemon Minecraft skins, mostly featuring Pokemon from gen one but also a surprise or two from gen three.

What, did you expect Pikachu to be the first Pokemon we show off? Ludicrous! Everyone knows Machamp is the real star of the first Pokemon gen, and you can slap this skin right on and show everyone who's the Pokeboss.

You can download it here!

Yeah, Machamp is cool but he's no sleepy Snorlax. The shading and detail on these skins and the rest to come is top notch, and anyone who's keen on naps or just being a chilled out big guy can appreciate the majesty that is this Snorlax skin. Download this big boy right here!

Out of the three Legendary Beasts, why Entei? Why not the fan-favorite Suicune? It just didn't feel right, since Suicine's so sleek -- and this Entei skin is top-notch, from coloration and shapes on his face down to the shackles (?) on its arms and legs. Give this Legendary Beast some download love.

One might say Charizard is the king of all Pokemon, and they may be right.. or they may have just played Red and Blue. Whatever the case, Charizard is still one of the most popular Pokemon and this skin is the best I've seen recreating his signature look. Not pictured above are the wings on his back, which also look great.

Let's not pretend Mewtwo isn't one of the coolest Pokemon ever, okay? This guy's like a bottom-heavy Frieza from Dragon Ball Z, which is why he is just perfect.

This skin is essentially exactly what I want out of a Frieza -- oh, sorry, Mewtwo Minecraft skin, and it's got the tail to match at the back. Just a great skin.

This may not be as traditional as the other skins I've chosen for this list, but who cares? Deal with it. This is the absolute best way to have a Slowpoke skin -- a Team Rocket Slowpoke! I just really love this one and wanted to share. Super cute.

We all know about the classic cool Squirtle with his boss sunglasses, and this is probably the best recreation of that I've seen in terms of Minecraft skins even if his glasses aren't that signature shape -- the bandana's just perfect. The back has a detailed recreation of Squirtle's shell and tail, too, it really just clinches the look.

Let's not try to deny that Growlithe is one of the most popular Pokemon of all time, okay? Everyone likes Growlithe, who doesn't like a fire-theme dog? Nobody, that's why.

This is simply my favorite Growlithe skin out there, hands down.

I'm not saying most people would go out of their way for a Roselia skin, but I am saying this one's good enough to click the download button on. You dig?

Roselia isn't many people's favorite Pokemon, but it's hard to deny a skin so decorated but apathetic-looking. This one certainly has its place, and that place is in your skins folder.

Last but not least is an old fan favorite, Eevee's dark evolution Umbreon. Though this may not be as detailed as some of the other skins I've chosen to list, it is striking in how it looks to be glowing. This one's a unique take on Umbreon, hopefully you like it as much as I do!
