Total War: Warhammer 3 — How to Unlock and Use Gorduz Backstabber

Gorduz Backstabber is a Legendary Hero in Total War: Warhammer 3. A Hobgoblin who’s risen to the top of the ranks, he uses his tenacity and cunning to lay waste to his foes. If you’re wondering how to recruit him, here’s what you need to know. 

How to Get Gorduz Backstabber in Total War: Warhammer 3 Chaos Dwarfs

Gorduz Backstabber is only available if you own the Forge of the Chaos Dwarfs DLC and if you’re playing as a Chaos Dwarf Legendary Lord.

To unlock him, you have to do the following steps:

• Build a Hobgoblin Mustering Camp. This is a Tier 1 Basic Military building.
• Maintain at least eight Hobgoblin-type units.
  • These include Hobgoblin Cutthroats, Hobgoblin Sneaky Gits, Hobgoblin Archers, Hobgoblin Wolf Raiders (Spears), Hobgoblin Wolf Raiders (Bows), and the Ogla Khan’s Wolfboyz Regiment of Renown.

With these requirements met, Gorduz Backstabber should spawn near your main army at the start of your next turn. However, there are reports of a bug that may occur, which prevents the quest steps from triggering.

As cited in a developer’s reply in the Steam forums, this happens if you conquer a settlement that already has a Hobgoblin Mustering Camp. As such, we advise you to build that structure as soon as you can to make the quest pop up.

Gorduz Backstabber’s Abilities

Gorduz Backstabber has some rather nifty abilities, such as the Dagger of Malice, which increases his melee attacks and imbues his weapon with poison. Likewise, there’s his Crooked Dice ability, which provides buffs depending on what he rolls.

Moreover, while you can certainly make Gorduz a formidable fighter, he also excels as a unit that can buff other Hobgoblin units. These boosts include increased melee, charge, missile defense, experience gain, and more. He can even summon Hobgoblin Cutthroats on a whim.

Gorduz’s quirks synergize well with Chaos Dwarfs‘ mechanics, given that sturdy Dawi units require armaments and increased caps. As such, you’re getting much-needed buffs for your expendable units, enough to last until the mid-game.
