To borrow from the immortal words of Cassie Cage in Mortal Kombat X, we all just got Caged — Nicolas Cage, that is.
Zelda fans have a lot to be excited about with the unveiling of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at E3 this year. But some ambitious modders and a popular YouTuber just might have the perfect way to pass the time between now and the game’s release.
Criken, the YouTuber in question, shared a release video this week of The Cage’s Mask mod for The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. And yes, as the name suggests, the mod, created by Shayne Hawke, serves as a texture pack that adds as much Nicolas Cage to the game as closely as humanly possible. The mod’s official page shares the origin story behind this incredible creation:
This entire project started out during a Criken stream of Majora’s Mask, where Shayne Hawke sent out a screenshot of Nic Cage’s face over Link’s face. It was at this moment that an idea to create an entire texture pack using this image came to fruition.
Three years later, the mod is complete and available now for free. For those who aren’t interested in installing the mod but still want to see it in glorious action, Hawke and a friend, Taquito Brown, are in the middle of a playthrough of the game with The Cage’s Mask mod enabled.
Hopefully this liberal usage of Cage’s face won’t get anyone in trouble or lead to the mod’s removal, because as things stand now, this may be his newest “national treasure.”
