I was on Twitter today, and couldn’t help but notice a video shared by former G4 “Attack Of The Show” host Kevin Pereira:
Every time I’m about to quit you Internet, you go and do something like this: https://t.co/5f90R1i7Nd (Dorado. Sandstorm. #Overwatch)
— Kevin Pereira (@Attack) June 20, 2016
No, your eyes haven’t deceived you — YouTube user VINSACCI uploaded a video yesterday wherein he uses Bastion (or, as I call him, the “Salt Machine”) to play part of the Darude song “Sandstorm” on the Dorado map in Overwatch. Somehow, a dance track from a 2001 album entitled Before The Storm remains one of the Internet’s most popular memes, no matter where or even how often it’s used. And now it seems that even Overwatch, perhaps the biggest internet darling of the moment, isn’t immune.
The good news is that this is one of the few YouTube videos where the answer “Darude-Sandstorm” would be correct if someone asked what song was playing. Unfortunately, as of the time of writing, the video only has just over 300 views with no comments, but a surprisingly large number of dislikes (27, compared to 42 likes). Meanwhile, there’s no indication whether Bastion can still get Play of the Game for this little musical exercise.
