Samus Aran is known as one of the first female video game heroes thanks to Nintendo’s Metroid series. Unfortunately, there has never been a live-action adaption of the heroine, until now. Rainfall Films, makers of other short films such as Wonder Woman and IGN’s April Fools The Legend of Zelda, has adapted Metroid to 11-minute short film called “Metroid: The Sky Calls.”

The film stars Jessica Chobot, of the Nerdist, as Samus Aran and America Young, of Halo 5 and Monster High, for motion capture.

Metroid: The Sky Calls is in no way connected to Nintendo and is made strictly for fan purposes. The film was voted for in Rainfall’s “Fantasy Filmmaking” project. The film was given a retro static look in order to capture the inspiration of the 1986 game.

The film follows Samus on one of her planetary explorations. Although the film clocks in less than 12 minutes long, there is plenty of action and story. The film is based more on the original Metroid rather than the Prime series. Make sure to check out the film on the header above or visit Rainfall’s website to see more great films from the studio.
