The upcoming Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will feature Joel McHale (Community) voicing Johnny Cage and Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) taking the role of Sonya. Patrick Seitz (Shenmue 3, Days Gone) will take up the title character of Scorpion.

Franchise co-creator Ed Boon broke the news via Twitter, and since then, we’ve learned the animated film will be directed by Ethan Spaulding (Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, Batman: Assault on Arkham) and written by Jeremy Adams, who has previously worked on Teen Titans and Supernatural.

A live-action movie is also in development and currently slated for a 2021 launch window.

In gaming news, the series’ latest entry, Mortal Combat 11, has seen a slew of crossovers lately, with Terminator and Joker recently appearing as DLC fighters, while Spawn will make an appearance in-game starting in March.
