Today, ATLUS has released a new Persona 5 trailer. The new trailer ultimately reveals a September 15 release date for Japan. At the same time, it was announced that the game will be present at E3 as well.
Persona 5 was originally announced in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and was initially scheduled to release in Winter 2014. After sometime, it was announced for the PlayStation 4 also with a new release window for 2015. Then, during Tokyo Game Show 2015, ATLUS formally reported that it was delayed to mid 2016.
The new trailer shows more gameplay including the protagonists working part time jobs, and some dungeon exploration. Another focus of the trailer is upon the remaining party members of the thief-themed gang. One persona is a young woman that fights bare-handed. Another character appears to be a classy thief, and the party’s support is shown to be a hacker with a UFO-themed persona.
The Persona series will be reaching a 20 year landmark in September. As such, the Japanese release will receive a special edition in celebration. The special edition will include special DLC, an artbook, and a 5 CD soundtrack of the series best music.
ATLUS has also announced Persona 5 the Animation -THE DAY BREAKERS. This anime will be produced by studio Production IG and it will serve as the prologue to the game.
More Persona 5 news, including a Western release date, is expected to be unveiled at E3.
