Trading Pokemon to collect them is one of the biggest features in the Pokemon video games, as well as in the Pokemon card game. So it’s no wonder that fans were a little disappointed that the feature wasn’t included in Pokemon Go.
In an interview with Niantic’s CEO, John Hanke, he confirmed that trading will be added to the game soon. Hanke felt that trading Pokemon will encourage players to interact with each other in the real and virtual world, which is one of the core values of Pokemon Go. Although, how trading would actually work was not clearly discussed.
Since Pokemon Go encourages players to catch multiples of the same Pokemon, trading would be a great improvement to the game. Trainers can simply trade off Pokemon that they’ve already caught to get new ones. For now, there is no set date for when trading will be released. Until then, we’ll just have to wait, but at least Niantic is planning to update the app bi-weekly so hopefully we will see Pokemon trading really soon!
