Raiden 58th Squadron vs. Last Huzzah (match starts at 08:25 timestamp)
Raiden 58th Squadron were the favourites to win the opening match, comprising Alliance Tournament veterans from Raiden Alliance. However, in a surprise result, relative unknowns Last Huzzah took the victory by way of a fairly routine slugfest. RESULT: Raiden 58th Squadron 13 – 70 Last Huzzah
Why Dash vs. RONIN and pixies (match starts at 10:30 timestamp)
Why Dash, flying the flag of the feared and respected three-time Alliance Tournament winners Pandemic Legion, have short odds to win the competition, let alone beat RONIN and pixies. Early positional fleet movements saw a cagey start, but Why Dash boundary violations resulted in the instant destruction of a key Sleipnir command battlecruiser and a Merlin frigate. RONIN and pixies pounced on this error and engaged, taking no losses as they whittled Why Dash‘s fleet down.
RESULT: Why Dash 0 – 70 RONIN and pixies
Expendables vs. the HUNS
With both teams made up from members of previous Alliance Tournament winning organisations (HUN Reloaded were AT4 champions and HYDRA Reloaded were controversial AT9 champions), this was a big match. After a slow start, a Jaguar assault frigate from the Expendables fleet broke formation to lure the enemy. A Taranis destroyer from the HUNS’ fleet took the bait and was destroyed. This was followed by the destruction of the HUNS’ vital logistics repair cruiser, leaving the remaining fleet unable to stand in the face of incoming fire.
RESULT: Expendables 70 – 1 the HUNS
Tinkerhell & Alts vs Tengu Terror
Lazors! Both sides fielded fleets heavily reliant on laser weaponry, which made for an impressive light show. The early loss of Tinkerhell & Alts damage-repairing logistics cruiser saw Tengu Terror slowly burn through the Tinkerhell Golden fleet with three Legion strategic cruisers.
RESULT: Tinkerhell and Alts 20 – 70 Tengu Terror
