We all know how well Sony and Microsoft get along, mostly, when it comes to talk about their creations the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
After a ludicrous launch for the PS4 over North America, where over 1 million units were sold within 24 hours, it was time for Sony to launch its brand new console in Europe, where it broke a record, becoming the fastest selling console in the UK history.
With these numbers, Sony had sold over 2.1 million PS4 consoles within a month, making well over £87 million collected from the 700,000 units that have been sold in Europe and Australia territories, as announced through a press release.
“Demand remains incredibly strong and continues to overwhelm the supply worldwide, but we are diligently working to meet those growing demands and to deliver additional PS4 units to our retail partners throughout the holiday season. We are extremely grateful for the passion of PlayStation fans and thank them for their continued support.”
– Sony President and group CEO, Andrew House
With these massive numbers, Microsoft needed a comeback, and that’s exactly what they did, just that they didn’t give absolutely any word about the Xbox One sales figures but instead, Microsoft talked about how gamers are enjoying their gaming time.
This information was shown in a statement from Microsoft on the Xbox Wire where it is emphasized that the Xbox One is seeing “unprecedented demand.” Corporate Vice President of Strategy and Marketing Yusuf Mehdi said:
“We are humbled and gratified by the overwhelming response from our fans to the launch of Xbox One. Eleven days in we are seeing record breaking sales and are selling every Xbox One we can make. Demand is far exceeding supply in the 13 countries we’ve launched and we are sold out at retailers around the world. We are seeing incredible usage from our engaged fans who have purchased Xbox One with more than 50 million hours spent on Xbox One games and entertainment“
What do you think of this information? Did you get any (or both) next-gen console?
