Death Must Die has finally received a major content update that unlocks Act 2. In Act 2, there are new enemies to face, and one of them is the notorious Laser Cats, which are frustrating to deal with. Here’s how to beat Laser Cats in Death Must Die easily.
How to Beat Laser Cats in Death Must Die
Laser Cats (or probably just Cats, officially) are new enemies that pounce around, audibly meow at you and shoot lasers out of their tails to quickly melt your HP.
There are regular ones and elite ones to fight against. The regular laser cats show up at about 4:00 in Act 2, and the elite ones show up at about 9:00. I’ve devised a number of strategies to beat these laser cats after a lot of (very frustrating) trial-and-error attempts.
The cats’ attack slowly winds up and shows a red line of where their laser will start blasting at you in a matter of seconds. They also have a tendency to jump in and out of battle. Let’s see how to use this knowledge to our advantage.
- The evasion stat will help you mitigate some of the damage because the game must process every instance of damage before it’s determined if you dodged it or not. However, this is not an optimal way of dealing with the lasers. It’s meant as a backup. When it comes to Armor, you’ll need way too much of it for its damage reduction to really matter, so I wouldn’t go there necessarily.
- Various pillars and objects can and will block these lasers for you. Around the 4:00 and 9:00 mark, try to position yourself so you have at least two of these objects in your sight to quickly dash behind them.
- Contrary to the belief of many, you should remain as close to laser cats as possible. It’s simple math and physics. They have a limited speed at which they can move the angle of their laser left and right, meaning that they can easily track you with it the more distant you are from them, even if you do your best to dodge sideways (if you’re at the end of the laser’s range, only then is it safe to try and move away).
If you are close to them, you can easily use your dash to dodge through them, or at least move into an angle where they can’t lock on to you fast enough.
There’s an item called “Dog Paws” that increases your damage against Cats, but I don’t think it’s worth picking up, honestly.
Hopefully, this helps you. I certainly would want to know these tips before I faced the laser cats for the first time. Feel free to check out how to beat The Cursed and many more guides at our Death Must Die game hub.
