How to Defeat The Cursed in Death Must Die

"What have you brought upon this cursed land?"

The Cursed is the first mini-boss in Act 2 of Death Must Die. The Cursed has quite a few annoying abilities that might severely catch you off-guard, so let’s talk about how you can beat The Cursed in Death Must Die without much trifle and annoyance.

How to Beat the Cursed in Death Must Die

The Cursed won’t bother you much with its attacks early on. Right as it spawns (7:00), it will create a green cloud of acid rain that will slowly follow you. In most cases, you’ll take a few hits from it as it spawns, so be prepared to dash away and gain some distance. It won’t harm you much, but why give away HP when you don’t need to?

The other “attack” The Cursed has is it will start chasing you with the intent to grab you and drain your HP. From my experience, the damage wasn’t drastic, but you still don’t want to give in to its dark, hugging desires.

Finally, the most draining aspect of The Cursed is the curses. You’ll notice red symbols above your head from time to time when dealing with The Cursed, and when you open your statuses, you’ll see what you’ve gotten on the curse lottery. I didn’t manage to get all of the curses (yes, there are many of them), but mostly, you’ll receive severe hindrance to some of your stats, such as:

  • Attack damage,
  • Dash range,
  • HP Regeneration.

If you have items that reduce the duration of your character’s negative effects, you might want to take one or two just to make things easier on yourself. In addition, some locations in the game may offer such bonuses as well. You will mostly find that the other monsters around The Cursed will cause problems for you when you’re cursed, so taking that negative part out of the equation as much as possible will help you prevail.

And, of course, utilize a lot of damage output to obliterate The Cursed out of existence. The Cursed has an enrage timer when it drops under 33% HP. A lot of shadow missiles that move in a snake-like fashion will start attacking you.
