How to Reach a Place With Good Signal Reception and Build a Radio Tower in Lightyear Frontier

Let's connect you to someone real quick...

At a random point in your Lightyear Frontier playthrough, you will be contacted by a stranger via radio. Strange, given that you thought you were completely alone with PIP3R. You’re supposed to reach a place with good signal reception and build a radio tower. Here’s how to do it.

How to Get to the Place With Good Signal Reception in Lightyear Frontier

The first part of the quest that is assigned to you is to find a place with a good signal reception. I got this quest while I was roaming around the Yellow Forest in the late stages of the game.

The hill on which you are supposed to build the Radio Tower is located within the Yellow Forest. Let me give you the exact map location because the game doesn’t offer it to you. I’ve highlighted it in a red square in the screenshot below:

Some of you might confuse the location with the cave just under the Radio Tower because the quest trigger will happen after you enter the cave (the game will think you’re on top of that hill). You definitely need to be on the top of the hill.

Building a Radio Tower in Lightyear Frontier

Before you start building the Radio Tower in Lightyear Frontier, you must clear the build area. This is done by pressing “Ctrl” while in your Mech to switch modes after you’ve purchased the necessary Pathmaker upgrade on the Upgrade Pod. Here’s the one I am talking about:

The necessary ingredients for this upgrade will be listed in the Mech upgrade menu. It’s nothing out of the ordinary, and you will definitely have access to all of these resources when you get the quest.

After you’ve enabled Pathmaker mode, you need to clean up the area where the Radio Tower should be located. Press Space to lower your tool and use Shift while moving around to flatten the area.

After the location is cleared (the one outlined with the glowing square), you can press “B” to start building the tower. Here are the necessary ingredients:

  • Hardwood x 12
  • Aluminum Frame x 5
  • Aluminum Electronics x 3
  • Copper Ore x 8

If you need hints regarding obtaining these items I got you covered:

  • Hardwood can be obtained by chopping down Large Green Trees (an abundance of them is present at Pine Heights.
  • An Aluminum Frame can be crafted at the Assembler by combining two Aluminum rods. Here’s how you can get Aluminum.
  • Aluminum Electronics can be crafted at the Assembler by combining two Aluminum rods and one Copper Wire. Copper Wire is made by combining two Copper Ores.
  • Copper Ore can be found in the southern zones (Edge Cliffs and Lowland Plains).

What is the Radio Tower used for in Lightyear Frontier?

Radio Tower grants you another method of earning money in Lightyear Frontier. When you approach and communicate with the Radio Tower with the “E” key, you will be offered up to three daily quests. These usually involve delivering a variety of materials/resources to the tower in exchange for a reward between a few hundred and a few thousand dollars. All in all, it does not impact the main story at this moment, so it’s not a big problem if you skip it.
